068 Planet of the Daleks

This is so Terry Nation.

• Split up the companions. (Jo and the Doctor think each other is dead till ep4.)
• Space cadets (Taron, Vaber, Codal) v the Daleks, 
• natives who are invisible Visians (sorry) Spirodons, 
• plants that spit deadly poison/virus/sap... 
• There's a variation on the failing rope bridge/dangling over a cliff by a rope trope. It's hanging off a parachute (and then it breaks...)

David Maloney is back for the first time since The War Games.

This seems to be the first classic Dudley Simpson incidental score. He's got a new 'band' and it sounds like real instruments and moody proper DW incidental music. The synthesiser is ditched.


Planet of the Daleks starts out ok but by ep5 it's awful.

During Planet of the Daleks an important barrier is all but past.

From here on there's just one further eps in anything but PAL original format. (It's Invasion of the Dinosaurs p1, dammit...)
